Cupuacu Butter...a Super Moisturizer

Updated: Mar 24, 2022

Your skin is the ultimate showpiece, and everyone desires and deserves radiant skin. Melanin naturally aides to in protecting the skin against damage from harmful ultraviolet rays. Melanin also makes darker skin look more youthful for a longer period time. However, African American skin, specifically darker skin tones, suffer from skin conditions including eczema, hyperpigmentation, blemishes and scarring, therefore it requires a unique type of care. BrooklynWhipps Handmade Soaps and Bath Essentials #BKSKYNFOOD products made with Cupuacu (ku-pu-aˈsu) Butter may be the answer to your skincare concerns.

Why Cupuacu Butter?

Growing up, my family swore by Petroleum Jelly and Mineral Oil a.k.a Baby Oil. Being ashy was against the law and our skin had to glow by any means necessary. Cacao (Coco) Butter, a step up from Petroleum Jelly worked but still had its draw backs. A few years before I started BrooklynWhipps, unrefined Shea Butter and all its glory, made its way onto my vanity. For many people of color, including myself, Shea Butter became the #1 moisturizer for their hair and skincare. Shea Butter remains a staple in our bath and body products, but Cupuacu Butter is at the top tier of natural plant butters.

Cupuacu (Theobroma grandiflorum) Butter is extracted from the nuts of the Cupuacu Tree, a tropical rainforest tree found in Brazil. Cupuacu Butter is closely related to Cocao Butter (Theobroma cacao) but it is softer, super hydrating and noncomedogenic. It has a unique chocolaty, nutty aroma and may recover and maintain the elasticity of the skin. We all want our skin to bounce back right? Cupuacu Butter is high in Vitamins K and E and is a great vegan option for a skin moisturizer.

Our goal at BrooklynWhipps is to formulate products that hydrate the skin, where constant reapplication of a product is unnecessary. Blemish Butter, our newest product crafted with Cupuacu Butter is infused with certified organic Tea Tree Essential Oil and Petitgrain Essential Oil. Neem Seed Oil is added for its great anti-inflammatory, antifungal and antimicrobial properties. Butta Butta Body Butter is another product made with Cupuacu Butter. It is ideal for rough areas such as the elbows, knees and feet. If you need a soap, never under estimate the Spinach Rosemary Soap Bar made for customers with acne, sensitive and dry skin. Cupuacu butter, Organic Spinach and unrefined Shea Butter makes a creamy and bubbly bar of soap.
